F.A.Q.

Many clients come to us with a variety of questions about our treatment plan. In order to create an open line of communication we have gathered a few of the pressing questions our clients usually have and our answers to them.

Q: What is Laser Therapy for Smoking Cessation and how does it work?
A: Victory Laser uses Low Level / Low Intensity Laser Therapy to stimulate the acupoints of the organs that are affected by nicotine. This helps with the physical part of the addiction by stimulating key neuro-chemical pathways sending a very hard to ignore signal to your brain resulting in the production of endorphins (large amounts of feel good, pain relieving chemicals in your body that allow your system to increase energy and decrease stress). These endorphins in turn eliminate most, if not all the physical cravings for nicotine.

Q: What happens during treatment?
A: While seated comfortably, first a point finder will be used to correctly identify each acupoint. Once the point has been identified, a low level laser will be used to treat each point. There are approximately 40 points that will be triggered.

Q: What part of the body is treated?
A: For the treatment of Smoking Cessation a Low Lever Laser is applied to specific acupuncture points located mostly in the ears as well as the nose, head, hand and arm.

Q: How long does a treatment take?
A: Treatment for Smoking Cessation typically takes less than 1 hour from the time you walk into the clinic to the time you leave as a non-smoker.

Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: Success is most often obtained with just one treatment however, if you feel that you are still craving nicotine, you are welcome to come back for up to 2 follow-up treatments (within the first 90 days of initial treatment).

Q: How long has Laser Therapy been successfully practiced?
A: Lasers for therapy were developed in the 1960’s and have proven to be an efficient way to deliver intense light at wavelengths that stimulate specific biological and physiological response. However, the concept of using light to aid in healing has been around since the ancient Romans and Greeks.

Q: What are the risks?
A: NONE!

Q: What type of equipment is used?
A: Victory Laser uses a MedX 200 Console System which is US FDA cleared, Licensed by Health Canada’s Therapeutic Products Directorate of the Medical Devices Bureau. Produced in an ISO 13485: 2003 certified manufacturing and tested facility.

Q: How is Laser Therapy different from other treatments?
